Pictures over Serbia

The first image in the mirror would be the brilliant victory of Novak Djokovic and of hundred of citizens, craving success, celebrating happily his victory. His figure is made of hard work, sacrifices, persistence and talent. Novak didn’t rely on luck. On the contrary!

The happiness of the citizens clearly shows that they have accepted the success of Novak Djokovic as it was their own. The second picture in the mirror would be the economical, full of fears: the decrease of salaries, unfulfilled expectations and dissatisfaction.

The mirror is not clear or clear. It shows that the people do not believe the ones responsible for the creation of the economical-political situation, but also themselves.

The third picture in the mirror could be the picture of Serbian defeats from its recent past, full of makers of a wrong national politics, immaturity and irresponsibility of the intellectual elite, which is showed to us even today.

Telegraphically: some, like Seselj from the Hague, admire Slobodan Milosevic, as we read in the letter he wrote for this year’s Vidovdan. Biljana Plavsic advises Mladic to admit his guilt, denying that she even knew what the former commander did.

During the period of Mladic’s killing, demolishing and burning spree, she “just: did humanitarian work. So, it is difficult to believe that it is true, and it is, that a sentence that Ratko Mladic uttered:

“I didn’t choose Milosevic for you, you chose him for yourself”, goes without the conviction of the ones that see themselves as the fathers and the saviors of our nation.

Their silence says that they are blind to their own mistakes and that they intend, at least, to make us “blind as bats”. In these recent days we have seen that Novak Djokovic is a hero.

That is what the majority of citizens think. Mladic, Karadzic and Hadzic, which is still not in the Hague, are synonyms for shame and defeat – war and moral ones. In the mirror they represent a picture of a wall towards Europe and the world.

The picture of Novak Djokovic is a picture of a hero, but not only for Serbia. He is not a wall. He is an accomplishment and we are lucky that he wants to be a Serbian.

We believe that Novak is not the only image of a successful and happy Serbia. We know that there are a lot of people in Serbia which have the knowledge and the potential in different fields and which have a right system of values, and Novi magazin will always be here to support and help them.
